Food Glorious Food

If there's one thing I love (besides messing around with this website), it would be cooking and baking. My grandmother died a few years ago, and it made me think about all the time we spent together in the kitchen. From the time I was old enough to sit up on my own, she had me in her kitchen baking pies, cakes, cookies, bread, and other wonderful treats. I now own her big KitchenAid mixer, a set of Pyrex mixing bowls, and two rolling pins. I also have boxes and boxes of recipes that my grandmother cliped out of newspapers and magazines. One of these days (I swear!) I'm going to go through the box and sort them all out.....but there's just so many of them -- literally hundreds!

Tea rings were my grandmother's specialty -- and I suggest you make a tea ring soon. There's never a bad time for tea ring.

Pinwheel cookies were my favorite when I was little.

Everything I know about baking, I learned from my grandmother. So these recipes aren't just any recipes, they're tried-and-true faithful parts of my childhood, and my family. Some of the recipes are mine, and some are my grandmother's. Credit is given to whoever we think of when we make a certain recipe. I'll add to this section as I get new recipes, so keep checking for updates. If you have any questions about the recipes or want to send an e-mail about your experiences with them, please don't hesitate to send me an email. Or come by my new coffeehouse when it's open (hopefully this summer) and sample some of the goods. My great-aunt Rebecca's devil's food cake will be the star of the show, I think.
